If I have said this before, my apologies, but it simply bears repeating…The common folk of the UK are in terrible dire straits because the governments have fully and completely embraced the dystopian narratives. Civil war seems plausible but how do citizens fight when they have been disarmed?
I don't know if I would focus on the fighting part, personally - people have always proved pretty adept at fighting regardless of their circumstances. What I found troubling in Professor Betz's read of the situation is that he sees a British government aware of the consequences of their actions and doing it anyway. Something very eerie in the idea of a leadership class either too weary or too arrogant to steer away from an iceberg they all know is there.
Your last sentence…that pretty much sums up my feelings about what is transpiring and in all levels of UK government. It’s like the Manchurian Candidate has been played out on a wide scale and the elected officials are utterly brainwashed. Of course, I could apply that theory in many countries other than the UK…
