Very moving indeed and your professional interview style allows the author to speak without interruption. I really enjoy listening to your interviews and wish there were more journalists such as yourself. Since you have had great success having authors on your show, do you think you could interview Christopher Robert Browning, the author of "Ordinary Men," another book on the subject of that era? That might be a very worthwhile interview.
Speaking of authoritarians, towards the end of your show, I was left wondering about the tacit angst of a modern-day bogey man you both hinted at. Could you two have been referring to the oppressive Kier Starmer regime, or the Bundestag moving towards banning a political party they disagree with? Or Romania? Brazil? Of course the usual "Orange man bad" trope could have been the target hinted at, as Europeans are wont to do. Well, at least the US isn't jailing people for memes ... yet.
Hmmm... 1920's... pandemic, inflation, over extended social welfare, social unrest, a looming world war... yeah seems familiar...
Indeed, Emmanuel. As Yogi Berra once said, “it’s deja vu all over again.”

Thank you for the well done podcast.
Thank you as always for listening, Dave. I'm glad it struck a chord.
I thought of Browning's book during my conversation with Julia, and I'd love to have him on. Your prompt in that direction will inspire action!
